Introduction to VR Technology

Hello, Internet

I figured this blog needed some explanation before things got going. I am a master’s student studying multimedia education. Currently though I am taking a new class on Virtual Reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies which is the inspiration for creation of this blog. This technology is really cool but if you are not a game designer, a programmer, or a YouTube celebrity this technology is just kind of there. Even getting a chance to experience it is kind of a blue moon event for most. The idea of this blog is to get people familiar with Virtual technologies as well as how you can work with them and how they bring new possibilities to a variety of fields. Currently right now I am working on a virtual reality project that I hope one-day makes its way to science classrooms.

I guess the best place to start would have to be the technology itself. When you read, this is the year of virtual reality, they’re not joking. Many different companies are releasing virtual reality based devices this year, which you can purchase for public use. Some of the most well know of these would have to be the Oculus that was purchased by Microsoft back in 2014. They now have their second development kit out for developers obviously, but there are many other devices out currently that can be yours if you are willing to pay the price. I suggest you take a look at a couple of these to get an idea of where we currently stand in this new virtual reality tech age.
